Easy chocolate recipes for kids
Are you looking for kids-friendly recipes for the holidays? Here are our favourite 5 chocolatey recipes to choose from.
There is a great choice of chocolate-based recipes for the kids to enjoy making in the holidays. All are super chocolatey and guaranteed to bring a smile to their faces. Yet, you will be happy too knowing that all Food Thoughts baking ingredients only use the finest, fairly traded cocoa beans. Food Thoughts organic cocoa powder, organic cacao powder and roasted cacao nibs are 100% pure and contain no added sugar!
There are also some delicious cookie recipes using cacao nibs to add depth of flavour and crunch or, how about cacao ice cream? Brilliant to bring the temperature down on a hot day!
If your kids are looking for even more fun and fancy trying out baking and decorating with our Food Thoughts Dark Chocolate Chips or Food Thoughts White Chocolate Chips, then you will find them so easy to melt (put the Chocolate Chips in the microwave and heat in 30 second increments until smooth and velvety and ready to use). We have is a range of three types of chips and melts: Dark Chocolate Chips (70% cacao), White Chocolate Chips (35% cacao) and Pure Cacao Melts (100% cacao) for a more bitter and mature taste. Just a word of warning however – they taste absolutely delicious, so you may find that some of them will be eaten before the baking, melting or decorating even starts!
You can buy our entire range direct from our shop. Or you can find some of our products at Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado.
Cacao Nib & Chia Seed Flapjack Cookies
SUPER EASY: Flapjacks are a healthy option for a treat. This recipe uses chia seeds and Food Thoughts Roasted Cacao Nibs for crunch, as they do not melt when they are baked. Chia seeds can be substituted with other seeds such as linseed, pumpkin, sunflower or sesame. If you want to add an extra chocolate twist, simply remove 2 tablespoons of plain flour and substitute with Food Thoughts Organic Cocoa Powder.
Chocolate Banana Cupcakes
EASY: This recipe creates perfectly moist chocolate and banana cupcakes. The light, chocolatey sponge is more like the texture of a muffin – great for kids! The cake itself does not use that much sugar, so the sweeter white cacao chocolate buttercream icing balances really well with the cake. We finished the cupcake off with halved strawberries piped with Food Thoughts Luxury Dark Chocolate Chips, but you can skip this step if you wish. The banana in the recipe keep the cupcakes moist for days after baking. Happy bakers!
Triple Chocolate Cookies
EASY: If your kids are chocoholics, then this is the recipe for them. This recipe was created for Food Thoughts by Sainsbury’s and combines three types of our chocolate baking ingredients: Organic Cacao Powder, Roasted Cacao Nibs and Luxury White Chocolate Chips. Truly yummy!
White & Dark Chocolate Brownies
EASY: Lovely gooey rich brownies with an optional drizzled white cacao chocolate topping. We used nuts and fruits in this version but these can easily be omitted or replaced with Roasted Cacao Nibs or Chocolate Coated Roasted Cacao Nibs both vegan diet friendly.
Super Chocolatey Hazelnut Brownies
EASY: If your children like nuts, then they will go nutty over these delicious brownies. These were voted the best brownies by our team as they have an amazing texture and are super moist. They did not last long, that’s for sure!
