We have two fairly trading suppliers – Luker Chocolate and YACAO. We’ve chosen to work with them, as they work in synergy to guarantee the quality, consistency of the raw material, as well as true compliance with fair trade standards to improve the working and living conditions of the smallholders and their families. We’ve been working with YACAO for over 25 years now. Our organically cultivated and fair trade cocoa and cacao powders come from the Dominican Republic.
Luker Chocolate is a family-owned business in Colombia. Founded in 1906, it now works with 2,500 farming families, as well as having its own farms. The company is committed to sustainability and wants to use cocoa to improve the lives of communities across Colombia.
Its sustainability and wellbeing plan – the Chocolate Dream – is helping to develop local schools, plant trees, build infrastructure and improve living conditions.
“The Chocolate Dream is transforming Caribia’s youngsters while also letting them have fun. We are now stronger and more resilient thanks to everything we have learned … and we can now confidently state that we know what we want. The coaching we have been provided with has given us great hope for the future.” – Isabela González
