Sustainable Chocolate & the Baking of a New Era

In the UK, baking is more than just a hobby, it’s a way of life. For centuries, the British have been crafting delicious desserts that bring joy to every occasion. From sticky toffee puddings to scones with clotted cream, we all have our favourite treats that remind us of home. But as the world changes around us, we need to update these traditions to ensure we’re doing our part for the planet. That’s where Food Thoughts’ sustainable chocolate baking ingredients come in.

We believe that baking should be a guilt-free pleasure, which is why we source our organic cocoa and cacao powder from ethical and sustainable suppliers. Our commitment to reducing waste and supporting farmers is in line with King Charles’ sustainable initiatives, which is why we’re taking this week to celebrate his coronation and a new era of baking.

The Monarchy and Sustainability: A Match Made in Heaven

We all know that the British monarchy has a long history of tradition, but with King Charles at the helm, we’re seeing a new era of innovation. One where environmental advocacy and action against climate change are front-and-centre. Hailed as the “Green King”, his modernisation of the monarchy has included initiatives such as reducing the carbon footprint of royal travel, using renewable energy to power the palace, and establishing the Sustainable Markets Initiative in 2020, which more than 500 CEOs are now part of. And now he’s taking the throne, we’re all looking to the future with him.

King Charles’ focus on sustainability is something we can all get behind. We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality ingredients that are produced in an environmentally-friendly way, and that’s why we only work with ethical and sustainable suppliers.

Ethical and Sustainable Chocolate Ingredients: The Key to Delicious Bakes

At Food Thoughts, we believe that the key to great baking is great ingredients. That’s why we’ve been sourcing fair trade cocoa since day one and have built strong relationships with our growers, Luker Chocolate in Colombia and YACAO in the Dominican Republic. We want to make sure that we’re not only producing delicious treats but that we’re also helping the people who produce them.

Our cocoa and cacao powder are 100% organic, and certified by the Soil Association, ensuring that you get the highest quality ingredients for your baking. Furthermore, our cacao nibs and melts and all our chocolate chips have been grown using sustainable farming methods  by fairly trading farmers. This means they use sustainable farming methods and apply fair trade standards to their production, which help improve farmers’ lives, strengthen communities’ future and maintain environmental balance.

And our commitment to sustainability extends beyond just our ingredients. We also use packaging that is widely recyclable, ensuring that we reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. We even offer our ingredients in 500g and a 1kg quantitiesquantity, reducing packaging waste and saving on transport costs.

By working together, we can all make a difference and create a more sustainable future.
