Place the softened butter, sugar, vanilla essence and egg yolks in a bowl and mix together. 2. Mix the flour, baking powder, cacao powder and salt together. Add these dry ingredients to the above mix. Then mix into the milk. Mix this with a hand mixer until it is fully blended. 3. Add the almonds and add the flakes of chocolate (optional). 4. Heat the waffle iron (highest level) and lightly spray with oil. Pour the mixture into the waffle iron until it equally fills half the form (don’t fill the completely as it will then spill over). Let it sit for about 20 seconds until you see bubbles appear on the edges (as you would see in pancakes). Then close the lid for 3 minutes. 5. After 3 minutes, carefully lift the waffle from the waffle iron. The waffle will initially be soft but once placed on a wire rack will crisp up.

Method
