Easter Chocolate Nests
Inspired by a really easy and quick recipe which we found in Waitrose Weekend Easter Baking Special, we have re-created these fun Easter chocolate nests using cacao powder as well as dark chocolate chips. These delicious Easter Chocolate Nests are ideal for making with the kids over the Easter weekend – particularly if you are trying to find indoors activities to keep them entertained. You could use any left over cereals, but we find that cornflakes or rice krispies work the best. And if you are not a huge fun of dark chocolate and prefer a lighter vanilla flavour, you can swap the Food Thoughts Luxury Dark Chocolate Chips with Food Thoughts Luxury White Chocolate Chips. Feel free to play around with the decoration – the kids will have endless fun with this great little activity, while you enjoy your well-earned cuppa. Win win!
You will need
- 75g Food Thoughts Luxury Dark Chocolate Chips
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- 20g Food Thoughts Organic Cacao Powder
- 50g slightly salted butter
- 100g of cornflakes or rice krispies
- 30 mini eggs (about 100g)
Method
Line a muffin tin with 10 muffin cases.
Place the dark chocolate chips, syrup, cacao powder and butter in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and allow to melt.
Mix into the cornflakes or rice krispies until even coated.
Spoon into the muffin cases and make an indent in the centre. Place 2 mini eggs into each next and chill until firm.
COOKS TIP: Best eaten at room temperature on the day they are made. Alternatively, keep chilled, then return to room temperature before serving.
