Homemade White Hot Chocolate
Who doesn’t love a cup of hot chocolate? Made with real white chocolate chips, this easy to make drink has the ability to lift any mood and fill everyone with a warm feeling of goodness and hope. Typically made with dark or milk chocolate, we bet you never considered making a homemade white hot chocolate. Trust us, it tastes better than Starbucks and it’s certainly healthier as it contains less sugar, more cacao solids, costs a fraction of one made at a coffee shop and can be prepared in 2 minutes flat. Allowing you to curl on the sofa and enjoy another episode of your favourite TV show. Too good to be true?
Our homemade white hot chocolate is made with Food Thoughts Luxury White Chocolate Chips, winners of Great Taste 2022 award. Unlike most white chocolate in the market, our white chocolate chips contain 35% cacao solids. So they are perfectly balanced in sweetness and flavour. Not too sweet, not too chocolatey, just the perfect level of sweetness, chocolate and vanilla aroma. Buy them in bulk here or at get the tubs from Ocado or you local Sainsbury’s.
Energy Efficient Recipe – approx energy consumption 1p
You will need
- 500ml full fat or semi skimmed milk
- 100g Food Thoughts Luxury White Chocolate Chips
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a handful of marshmallows
Method
Pour the milk, the white chocolate chips and the vanilla into a microwavable glass container and mix. Heat for 30 seconds and stir. Then heat for another 30 seconds and stir again.
Check that the chocolate chips have melted and mix one last time. If they have't melted yet, head them up for another 30 seconds. Stir and divide between 2 mugs.
Sprinkle some cocoa powder or marshmallows at the top and enjoy.
